We are all very saddened to learn of the sudden loss of Robert Legh.

Friedland Hart Solomon & Nicolson have had a very long-standing relationship with your Firm, which dates back to the days when Barry Kraut was a partner at Kraut Wagner and Kernick. We share in your loss.

I wanted to drop you a short note to pass on my sincere condolences on Rob Legh’s passing.  He was always a real gentleman when I met him (usually at IBA events) and I’m sure his passing is a huge shock and loss to the firm, and particular to your teams given his role as one of the founding fathers of competition law in South Africa.

My thoughts are with you, your teams and colleagues and of course Robert’s family.

It is with great sadness that I read about Rob’s tragic and premature death. I would like to express my sincere condolences to you and your colleagues.

Rob and I have known each other for a long time going all the way back to the 90ies. We made partners in our respective firms at about the same time and met when discussions about competition law in South Africa started to draw attention internationally. Ever since then we say each other quite regularly when working on joint matters – one even brought me to South Africa for a meeting with Rob and the SACC – and in international conferences like the ICN conferences. I have only fond memories of these meetings and our collaboration.

You at Bowmans and all of us in the legal profession have lost an excellent lawyer, leader, colleague, and friend.

Just want to say how shocked I am to hear of Rob’s passing, I also know how incredibly well regarded he was by you all and can’t imagine how tough it must be right now. My thoughts are with you all at this incredibly difficult time and please do take care.

We are so very sad to hear of Rob’s passing. Our deepest condolences to all of you. Rob is a huge loss to the competition community as well as to the broader South African legal world.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Rob’s loved ones. May you find peace and strength in these difficult times. Please pass our condolences on to the rest of the department.
