Partner Alex Njage has been appointed to the Board of the REITs Association of Kenya (RAK), effective 01 July 2026.
RAK was formed primarily to promote the growth of REITs in the Kenyan market.
Alex’s appointment coincides with the introduction of significant tax incentives, which are expected to spur the growth of REITs in the country. It also comes shortly after the listing of ALP Industrial I-REIT (East Africa’s first industrial and first US dollar-denominated REIT) on the Nairobi Securities Exchange – a matter on which Alex and other members of the Bowmans team advised.
He has a wealth of experience in Kenya’s real estate sector, having advised developers, investors, financiers and other stakeholders on complex real estate transactions, development projects, investment structures, joint ventures, acquisitions and financing arrangements. His deep understanding of the real estate value chain, together with his insight into the evolving REIT landscape, positions him to make a meaningful contribution to the RAK’s strategic objectives.
Commenting on his appointment, Alex said, ‘I am honoured by this appointment. I look forward to working with fellow Board members and industry stakeholders to advance the Association’s mandate and contribute to the ongoing development of a vibrant and sustainable REIT ecosystem in Kenya.’
Beyond his legal practice, Alex also serves as chair of the Board of Lolldaiga Conservancy and sits on the Kenya Property Developers Association Public Policy and Advocacy Committee, where he contributes to the development of industry standards and best practice frameworks.
