On Monday 18 May 2026, judgment was reserved in the South African Constitutional Court after hearing a major challenge to the Public Procurement Act of 2024. The Western Cape Government, City of Cape Town and amaBhungane want the law declared invalid, arguing Parliament failed to ensure meaningful public participation before passing it.
