  • Represented NMB Bank and Stanbic Bank Tanzania in multiple debt recovery proceedings, cumulatively involving claims totalling approximately USD 30 million.

Shipping

  • Successfully obtained an arrest order for the vessel MV Occitan Pessac as security for claims related to damaged cargo.
  • Represented Cosco Shipping Specialised Carriers in a claim for damages to goods arising from an incident aboard the carrier vessel. This includes an application for judicial review against the decision of the regulator.
  • Provided advisory services on the legal framework governing cargo claims in Zanzibar.

Intellectual Property

  • Represented Godrej Consumer Products Limited in several intellectual property disputes, including, a claim for passing off
  • against a competitor, and judicial review against the decision of the Registrar of Trade and Service Marks.
  • Advised on plant breeders’ rights and strategies for the protection of seed varieties.
  • Managed the registration of various trademarks, both locally and internationally.

Arbitration

  • Contributed to the Chambers Global Practice Guides for International Arbitration for the years 2022, 2023 and 2024.
  • Acted in enforcement of and challenge to arbitral awards, most notably, for SBC Tanzania and Softpawa.
  • Represented parties in arbitration proceedings as local counsel.

  • Represented North Mara Gold Mine and Nyati Resources in disputes over the resettlement of Project Affected Persons, with a focus on securing and protecting surface rights.
  • Acted for Ophir Energy in a significant claim valued at USD 322 million arising from the sale of gas fields.
