Overview

Karabo is an associate in the Banking and Finance Department and member of the General Finance Practice.

She has experience in advising lenders and borrowers on debt restructurings, secured and syndicated finance, fund financing, real estate financing, corporate and structured finance, acquisition finance and funding by way of preference shares. She also has experience in debt capital market transactions, including the establishment of domestic medium term note programmes as well as notes issuances thereunder.

Recently, Karabo has advised:

  • A syndicate of lenders in connection with the restructuring and refinancing of the debt package for a large South African retailer.
  • The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited in respect of financing advanced to a private equity fund manager for the acquisition of a facilities management solutions company with operations in South Africa, Mozambique, Mauritius and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
  • The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited and Stanbic Bank Botswana Ltd in connection with a senior secured USD 30 million multicurrency term, revolving and overdraft financing made available to Wilderness Holdings Ltd and a number of its subsidiaries in various jurisdictions.
  • FirstRand Bank Limited (acting through its Rand Merchant Bank division) and Rand Merchant Bank Nigeria Limited in connection with USD and NGN development and term loan facilities to a Nigerian company for the development of a data centre in Lagos, Nigeria.
  • FirstRand Bank Limited (acting through its Rand Merchant Bank division), The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited and New Development Bank in respect of a ZAR1 billion notes issuance pursuant to the New Development Bank ZAR10,000,000,000 Notes Programme.
  • The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited, Absa Bank Limited and BNP Paribas Personal Finance South Africa Limited in respect of a ZAR 1.1 billion notes issuance pursuant to the BNP Paribas Personal Finance South Africa Limited ZAR10,000,000,000 domestic medium term note programme.
