Overview
A seasoned litigator, Jerry advises corporate and public sector clients on various aspects of employment law and is often their first port of call when the problem at hand seems intractable and likely to lead to litigation.
Jerry usually works at senior executive and board level and is known for finding innovative solutions to challenging matters, including termination and executive misconduct. He always focuses on what the client wants to achieve within the confines of the law.
He builds the employer’s case on substance and procedural correctness to ensure his advice is strategic and his solutions are turnkey. When dealing with allegations of misconduct against a senior employee, for instance, he assists with the suspension, investigation and disciplinary processes and represents his client in litigation or private arbitrations if challenged. He has appeared at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration, Bargaining Council, Labour Courts and the Labour Appeal Courts.
He also works on collective bargaining, effective management of strikes, retrenchments, review of arbitration awards and/or judgments, urgent applications, managing fair dismissals, managing and implementing restructuring exercises, restraint of trade, and urgent applications. And he assists with the drafting, updating and revision of employment policies and contracts, and conducts training on topics such as how to handle discipline in the workplace, how to deal with retrenchments and workplace harassment.

- Member of the South African Society for Labour Law (SASLAW) and has served as an Executive Committee member, and as Deputy President, of the Gauteng Chapter.
- Served as Non-Executive Director of several companies and has also served as a Trustee of several Trusts.
