Overview
Bianca Masterson is a lawyer in our Johannesburg office Dispute Resolution Department and a member of the Litigation Practice.
She specialises in commercial and banking litigation, with a particular emphasis on business rescue, insolvency and restructuring. Bianca advises banks and creditors in litigious matters including foreclosures, and insolvency, as well as liquidators and trustees on insolvency-related aspects including matters relating to the administration of insolvent estates.
Bianca has advised on a wide-range of insolvency matters conducting enquiries on behalf of creditors and drafting opinions on insolvency law. She also represents and advises business rescue practitioners and companies under business rescue supervision. Bianca has been integrally involved in several insolvency enquiries conducted on behalf of creditors and has researched and drafted opinions on various aspects of insolvency law.
Bianca is a member of the South African Restructuring and Insolvency Practitioners Association (SARIPA).
She has B.Sc and LLB degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand and Advanced Certificates in Insolvency Litigation and Administration Practice and Business Rescue Practice from the University of Pretoria.

- Bianca advised the business rescue practitioners of Continental Coal and two of its subsidiaries in respect of its business rescue proceedings.
- Bianca advised Barloworld Equipment, a division of Barloworld South Africa Proprietary Limited in respect of the recovery of a pre and post business rescue debt owed to it by Optimum Coal Proprietary Limited.
