Aneesa is a competition law practitioner with pan-African experience across the full spectrum of merger control, behavioural conduct and market inquiries. She advises on regional merger filings for major cross-border transactions (in South Africa, Tanzania, Nigeria, CEMAC, ECOWAS, COMESA, EAC and other jurisdictions) and has in-depth expertise in regulatory issues affecting technology, media and digital platforms, including two recent market inquiries by the Competition Commission of South Africa. Her sector experience spans financial services, aviation, engineering, mining, healthcare, FMCG and manufacturing. Aneesa also handles contentious matters—such as prohibited practices and abuse of dominance—before authorities and courts in South Africa, Namibia, Zambia and other southern African jurisdictions.
Aneesa has a strong commitment to public interest issues, with particular experience in administrative and regulatory law in South Africa. She has assisted regulated entities and pro bono clients in judicial reviews and appeals, advising on challenges to government decision-making, consultation processes, and regulatory enforcement.
