Aman Assefa, Managing Partner, Aman Assefa & Associates Law Office

On behalf of Aman Assefa & Associates Law Office, I would like to extend our sincere condolences to Robert’s family, friends and colleagues.

I first met Robert Legh in 2018 here in Addis Ababa during our initial talks to form an alliance between our firms; and have since met him on different occasions. It didn’t take us long to realize what a wonderful person Robert was and it added more confidence for us in the firm that we already had a very good feel of. All of us here are deeply sad at his untimely passing – and I want to reiterate on behalf of all my partners that it is the special feeling that each of us had of Robert that made us particularly sad of his passing. We were all desperately wishing for his recovery; but, alas, there is nothing to be done now. He is gone – but his memory will certainly and fondly live with us. He was a wise person, a visionary and a caring person too. We have been fortunate enough to know and be associated with him and the firm he was leading.

It is truly an unfortunate loss and Robert will sorely be missed.

Yvonne Boden, Director: Estates & Trusts, Garlicke & Bousfield

It was with such shock and immense sadness that we heard over the weekend of the death of Rob.

On behalf of our directors, I extend our deepest sympathy to you all, and also to Rob’s family. Not only has Bowmans lost a great leader, and a special team member, but the profession has lost a giant, whose contribution will live on for years to come. There is no doubt that he will be remembered as a great lawyer, but above all as a man of character – committed, loyal, and honourable.

Our hearts go out to you all at this difficult and challenging time.

Windsor Fortune Thekiso, Standard Chartered Bank

It was with great shock and sadness to learn about Rob’s untimely passing.

Reading his obituary yesterday which was quite an apt description of his nature, reminded me of what a great human being Rob was, and what a profound loss his family (especially), the Bowmans family, the legal fraternity and the country as a whole have suffered.

I would like to convey my sincere condolences to you all. You are in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

Tom Odede

I was very saddened to hear of Robert’s passing.  He was a wonderful person, and we very much enjoyed our periodic visits in recent years.  My condolences to his family and colleagues, and may he rest in peace.

Stephen W. Bowman, Vice Chair & Managing Partner: People & Talent, Bennett Jones

We have read with sadness the news about Robert Legh. I wanted to convey my condolences and those of my partners for your personal and professional loss. From the tributes I have read, Robert was a wonderful person, and his stature in your firm attests to the respect and influence he had within your partnership. I am sure you will all miss him deeply, but his contributions to your firm and to the South African legal and business community will remain as a continuing monument to him.
