I just saw the sad news of Robert Legh’s passing and wanted to send our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to Robert’s family and to all at Bowmans on your loss.

I heard this morning that Rob had died a day or two ago.

His dad and mine were gunners and prisoners of war together during WW2, and I was friends with Rob and his siblings. I was very fond of Rob. Apart from having a keen interest in competition law (of which he was a master as you know), I enjoyed chatting to him when he called by at Giles Pub occasionally for an after-work beer.

I was deeply saddened to learn today of Rob’s passing. My condolences to you and your colleagues at the firm and to his family.

This is very difficult to believe. Although I have not seen Rob in two years, I have been following what your firm has been doing and the impact he has had. Your firm has been blessed with great leadership through the years, and Rob was definitely in that tradition as the firm has moved from strength to strength.

I remember Rob not just for his outstanding leadership, but for the warmth and collegiality he brought to all the interactions I was privileged to have with him. He will be greatly missed.

I send my deepest condolences to you all and to all the Bowmans team.

Rob was a real character and extremely well respected in the legal community. He is yet another great loss to SA and the world especially when this virus is containable with vaccine. It makes us all so very sad and so very angry. We have lost Rob far too early and we are all greatly saddened by his passing.

I recall the last time we were all together in Seoul when you kindly invited me to join you at dinner and Rob was in full character that evening.

I send my very best to all of you.
