It is with sadness that we have learned of the passing of Bowmans Chair, Rob Legh.

As friends of Bowmans and fellow Lex Mundi members, we had the great pleasure of working with Rob on a few occasions and meeting him at Lex Mundi events.

We wish to extend our condolences to Rob’s family, friends and colleagues and the entire Bowmans family.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the very sad news about the passing of Robert your Chairman and Senior Partner. As part of the Lex Mundi community we extend our thoughts and prays to Bowmans.  

I had occasion to spend time with Robert at the Lex Mundi conference in South Korea in 2019 when we taxied across Seoul to find a sporting venue to watch the All Blacks play South Africa in the World Cup in Japan.  If I am not mistaken Robert said he could have attended that game with clients, but had put the firm and Lex Mundi and IBA ahead of his own desire to be there. This signified his commitment to the firm.  The ABs were successful that day in the pool game and we shared a beer over a recap. He was most gracious in defeat but he would have then gone on to see South Africa rise to take the tournament which I could see him being ecstatic about.

Having lost our own Chairman, Kevin Jaffe, in 2018 we know what a shock and toll such events have on a partnership and the firm.

Our thoughts are with you, your staff and partners and Robert’s family.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Rob’s passing and wanted to write to express my most sincere condolences to you, all your colleagues at Bowmans, and of course Rob’s family. 

My thoughts are with you all during this very difficult time.  I cannot imagine the impact his loss must be having on all those who surrounded him. He was a brilliant character and a true gentleman. In my years of knowing him through Lex Mundi, and in particular at the South Africa conference a few years back, he was always kind and warm and gracious.  I will certainly miss him at our future Lex Mundi events.

Please do pass on my condolences to his family members as well.

I didn’t have the privilege of meeting Robert but have read much about him in recent days. A tragic loss of a man who appears to have been a giant.
