We are all saddened by the passing of Rob and I would like to extend our condolences to the Bowmans family on behalf of Standard Bank.

Many of us had the opportunity to work with Rob on a number of landmark transactions, many of which were Standard Bank related. He always enjoyed the confidence of all involved and his insights and professional manner will be missed.

Unfortunately over the last few days I find myself sending letters of condolence to colleagues, family and friends. We are living in a very sad and dangerous times. I too extend my sincere condolences to you and all of my colleagues at Bowmans and especially to Rob’s family.

So sorry to hear that Rob passed away. My deepest condolences. He was an excellent lawyer and an outstanding person. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to meet and to work with him. My thoughts are with you in this time of sorrow. Sending condolences to his family and the entire Bowmans family.

Many of you knew and have over the years worked with Rob Legh, who sadly succumbed to Covid-19 complications last week.

I recall working with Rob who was part of the newly formed competition department when I was a legal advisor at SAB in the mid-1990’s up until I left in 2004.  Rob was at the time, I recall, an associate member of CCASA and so our relationship continued when I assumed the position of the CCASA CEO.

Rob and I often chuckled over the fact that our sons, born on the same day, both bore the same names – Thomas Legh and Thomas Lee, pronounced the same way but spelt differently!

Or heartfelt condolences go out to all who loved and respected Rob, especially to his family and his colleagues at Bowmans.

The legal profession has lost a good man.
