Pan-African law firm Bowmans is delighted to announce that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Maputo-based oil and gas, projects and energy boutique firm, Taciana Peão Lopes & Advogados Associados (TPLA).  The MOU sets out the basis upon which TPLA and Bowmans will use combined resources to assist mutual clients and to offer expanded services to the ever-growing business and economic environment in Mozambique, and further, to facilitate the training and transfer of skills between lawyers.

David Forfar, head of Oil and Gas at Bowmans, commented that “in establishing this relationship with highly regarded projects, energy and oil and gas practitioner, Taciana Peão Lopes and her team, we have built upon a number of years of existing collaboration and this relationship is a natural development in our pan-African strategy. Our internationally qualified oil and gas lawyers based in Africa and London will dovetail with TPLA’s Mozambican legal skills to provide the major projects and oil and gas industries expertise required in both local and international environments.”

Robert Legh, Bowmans chairman and senior partner said, “We are delighted to have this relationship with TPLA and look forward to being able to introduce existing and new clients to a top-quality relationship firm in the expanding Mozambican legal services market. In addition to Bowmans' offices in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, as well as our strong relationship firm in Nigeria, bringing TPLA into our fold is an important and bold step in an exciting and developing African economy.”

Taciana Peão Lopes, TPLA managing partner, commented that “TPLA is anchored in the ethical principles of professionalism, transparency and local knowledge. The relationship with Bowmans will contribute not only towards strengthening the skills and knowledge of our Mozambican lawyers, but also towards providing clients, ranging from the private to the public sector, with the best expertise that is grounded in an African vision.”
