BOWMANS RECOGNISED AS A TOP TIER AFRICAN CORPORATE LAW FIRM
Bowmans’ standing as a top tier African corporate law firm has once again been confirmed, this time at the African Legal Awards ceremony held last night (1 September 2023) in Johannesburg.
Chairman and senior partner Ezra Davids says, ‘Bowmans is an African law firm owned by Africans and committed to the advancement of Africa’s economy. These awards are particularly special because this year we’re celebrating the 15th anniversary of the establishment of our first office outside of South Africa - Bowmans Kenya.’
The firm walked away with the M&A Team of the Year Award for advising on a matter that has been described as one that ‘reshapes the African insurance industry’. Lawyers from across Bowmans’ geographical footprint advised on the transaction, which is expected to drive greater financial inclusion and make a wider range of financial products available across the continent.
In addition, Bowmans’ Kenya office managing partner, Paras Shah, was named Partner of the Year for East Africa.
Shah says, ‘It’s a great honour to receive this award out of a shortlist of such highly respected lawyers in East Africa. The award is a testament to a fantastic and world-class team at Bowmans, and to the great clients who have shown confidence in us over the years to handle their most complex work in East Africa.’
