PORTS, TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS SECTOR NEWS ROUND-UP, 15/2021 23 AUGUST – 3 SEPTEMBER
In light of the rapid pace of infrastructure and transport developments across Africa, our Ports, Transport and Logistics (PTL) Sector Group is pleased to present Bowmans’ latest PTL news round-up. Our regular round-ups bring you a selection of pan-African PTL-related stories and keep you up to date regarding developments in the space across Africa.
We draw on a network of multi-disciplinary experts across Africa in fields as diverse as project finance, construction and environmental law, to keep you in the know about developments and thought leadership in the PTL space. The articles to which we refer readers are, unless stated otherwise, neither written nor edited by ourselves and appear in their original form. Bowmans does not necessarily agree with opinions expressed in those articles.
This edition includes news headlines and links to articles from Angola, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia.
Bowmans news...
At the African Legal Awards virtual ceremony held last week (3 September 2021), we were named Transportation and Infrastructure Team of the Year for our work on the Beitbridge Border Post Public-Private Partnership in Zimbabwe. We are very proud of this accolade, which involved nearly three years of intensive work with parties from five jurisdictions. When the upgrade is completed in 2023, the Beitbridge Border Post will be fully automated and connected to several databases of the Zimbabwe Government, minimising human interaction and streamlining collaboration across various functions. We acted for the concessionaire and for the borrower. Our multiskilled team of over 20 lawyers was drawn from our offices in Mauritius and South Africa.
