24 May 2018
– 2 Minute Read

The Department of Immigration launched a mandatory work permit verification and registration exercise that will run for the next sixty days (21 May 2018 – 21 July 2018). Accordingly, each permit holder is required to visit Nyayo House (Nairobi) within the specified time period and present the Required Documents (listed below).

The objective of the permit verification is to weed out irregular permits and set up a digital register that will enable the generation of the electronic permits (e-permits) for all permit holders in Kenya.

The Department of Immigration has indicated that permits will be rendered invalid for any expatriate who fails to have their work permits verified before 21 July 2018.

Period: 21 May 2018 – 21 July 2018.

Process: Each permit holder is required to visit Nyayo House and present the Required Documents (listed below).  Biometrics of the individual will also be captured. The process is similar to the alien card application visit (so it may take up to one hour).

Presence of the permit holder: Please note that the permit holder should be present during the exercise since biometrics of each permit holder will be captured.

Required documents: the permit holder is required to carry originals of the following documents:

  1. Work Permit
  2. Valid Alien ID or original waiting card (if the Alien ID is yet to be issued)
  3. Valid endorsement on Passport
  4. Official Payment Receipt
  5. KRA PIN

Venue: The Department of Immigration has set up a tent within the Nyayo House compound where permit holders are required to present themselves. The verification process will be conducted Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
