Cargo carriers, consignors and consignees beware

The latest amendment of the National Road Traffic Regulations, which came into force on 31 January 2015, has wide reaching implications for road hauliers and merchants in South Africa and failure to comply will likely result in loss of insurance cover. The new requirement of chief interest to merchants is that consignors and consignees are responsible for ensuring that vehicles transporting their goods are not overloaded.
